As representatives of Christ Jesus, the people who make up The Church At Tuscaloosa strive to continually reach beyond our own comfort zones to bring the Gospel to others through word and deed. In fact, we like to say that we "Reach 360" degrees beyond ourselves to the world around us. This can include those who are in need across the street or across the world and everywhere in between.
In Romans 10:15 Paul said, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news!” That good news is the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the salvation of all who call on Him. As we reach out beyond ourselves, we want to bring that same good news to others as we help them both physically and spiritually.
We strive to serve at least monthly as a group but encourage everyone who calls TCAT home to serve continually as a lifestyle bringing the good news to all who will listen. In November 2014 we rallied as a church body to collect food items, blankets, and donations for turkey vouchers. Then we bagged up the items enough for over 179 needy families and added a New Testament to each bag, Then on a Saturday morning, we gathered, prayed, then went in 15 teams to a needy neighborhood and prayed with families as we blessed them with these gift bags in the name of Jesus.
Each Thursday afternoon, several people of all ages in our church body go to one of the neighborhoods in Crescent East to play basketball, read aloud to children, help them with homework, and just to be with them. If you are interested in helping out with this relational outreach, please contact Ryan King for more information.
"In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35
